Lightning look to snap road skid vs. Blue Jackets
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

LIGHTNING (16-9-1) at BLUE JACKETS (10-14-3)

TV: SUN, FS-O

Last 10: Tampa Bay 4-5-1; Columbus 4-6-0

Season series: This is the first of three games between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets. The Lightning won two during the 2011-12 season by scores of 3-2 and 4-2.

Big story: The Lightning have lost their past four games on the road but have managed to find scoring in Steven Stamkos' absence; they rank 10th (2.8 goals per game) in the NHL in offense. The Blue Jackets are 5-7-1 at home and injuries to their forwards has limited the offense; they rank 20th in the League at 2.4 goals per game.

Team Scope:

Lightning: Tampa Bay finished a three-game homestand with a 3-0 loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday. It was the fourth time the Lightning have been shut out this season.

"[Pittsburgh has] some big-time players. Buried that first one and put us behind … I was not displeased with the way we played," coach Jon Cooper said. "I didn't think it was a 3-0 hockey game to be honest."

Despite the loss, defenseman Victor Hedman was pleased with his team's effort. The Penguins' second goal bounced off his leg, and the third was an empty-netter.

"I thought it was a pretty even matchup. It could have gone either way. They got the bounces today. … If we play like this in Columbus Tuesday, we will have a very good chance of winning," Hedman said.

Blue Jackets: The Blue Jackets lost 3-1 to the Boston Bruins on Saturday, only managing to generate 14 shots on goal while giving up 36. They have alternated wins and losses in their past eight games and have not won consecutive games in over a month.

"Not enough [shots] and not enough quality ones either. We've got to find a way to generate more. Probably the two things we talked about the most [was] more shots, get 10 a period, and stay disciplined, no penalties, and it didn't seem like we executed either one," forward RJ Umberger said.

After playing 16 games in November including four in six nights, the Blue Jackets get a bit of a breather with two games in six days.

"The games I'm not as much looking forward to. I'm looking forward to the practices, and being able to hopefully come out of this game and looking at our Edmonton game and working on some things to try and repair our game," coach Todd Richards said.

Who's hot: Before the shutout on Friday, Hedman had two goals and two assists in the past two games for the Lightning, and Valtteri Filppula had three assists. … Ryan Johansen has four goals in four games for the Blue Jackets.

Injury report: Lightning defensemen Brian Lee (knee) and Mattias Ohlund (knee) and forwards Tom Pyatt (collarbone), Ryan Malone (foot) and Stamkos (tibia) remain on injured reserve. Defenseman Radko Gudas (upper body) and forward Pierre-Cedric Labrie (upper body) are questionable. … The Blue Jackets have five players on IR: forwards Nathan Horton (shoulder), Cody Bass (thumb), Marian Gaborik (knee), Jared Boll (foot) and Derek MacKenzie (back). Forward Brandon Dubinsky (foot) was activated from IR, practiced Monday and will return Tuesday.
