Jets open homestand vs. slumping Flames
Calgary Flames vs. Winnipeg Jets

FLAMES (6-11-3) at JETS (10-10-2)

TV: SNET-W,TSN-JETS

Last 10: Calgary 2-7-1; Winnipeg 5-5-0

Season series: This is the first of three meetings between the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets. They won't face each other again until Jan. 16 at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Big story: The Flames travel to Winnipeg after going 0-2-1 on their three-game homestand, which extended their overall winless streak to six games (0-5-1). The Jets begin their own three-game homestand after they had their four-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night.

Team Scope:

Flames: The woes continued for Calgary on Saturday night, when it suffered a 4-2 loss on home ice to the Edmonton Oilers. The Flames surrendered three goals in the third period in a span of 6:42 after they had built a 2-0 lead through the first 40 minutes.

On Sunday, coach Bob Hartley said the Flames will not dwell on a disappointing homestand. Instead, the focus is strictly on the game against the Jets on Monday night.

"They're playing very well," Hartley told the Flames website. "They're a pretty big team. It's a loud building. It should be fun.

"I think that the first goal is always very important, but it's going to be a game for men. There won't be any room for kids out there."

Jets: With a four-game winning streak hanging in the balance, Winnipeg was 3:12 away from getting at least a point Sunday. But Mikko Koivu beat Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec for his second goal of the night to break a 1-1 tie.

Dustin Byfuglien had the lone goal for Winnipeg, which erased a 1-0 deficit 54 seconds into the third period. But the Jets couldn't hang on long enough to force overtime.

"I thought we played a pretty good road game," Jets coach Claude Noel said. "I thought we made some mistakes that led to the defensive zone faceoff that led to the goal that led to the game [winner]. Other than that, we managed the game fairly well."

Who's hot: Flames forward Jiri Hudler has four assists in the past five games; rookie Sean Monahan has a goal and an assist in the past three. … Byfuglien has four goals in the past three games for Winnipeg.

Injury report: Calgary will be without defenseman Mark Giordano (broken ankle) and forward Curtis Glencross (knee). … Winnipeg is expected to be without defensemen Zach Bogosian (lower body), Mark Stuart (hip), Paul Postma (leg) and Jacob Trouba (neck), along with center Jim Slater (hernia).
