Ducks host Red Wings in Game 5
Detroit Red Wings vs. Anaheim Ducks

RED WINGS at DUCKS

(Best-of-7 series tied 2-2)

TV: NBCSN; TSN, RDS; FS-D, FS-D+, PRIME

Big story:
The Anaheim Ducks are back home to host Game 5 after letting the previous contest get away. Anaheim led 1-0 after two periods and 2-1 with less than seven minutes remaining in regulation, but couldn't put away the Detroit Red Wings, who evened the series when rookie Damien Brunner scored in overtime. It's now a best-of-3 series, with two of the games at Honda Center.

Team Scope:

Red Wings
: Brunner is an illustration of the highs and lows that take place in playoff hockey. He had his pocked picked by Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf in the third period of Game 3, leading to a backbreaking shorthanded goal in a 4-0 loss. Two nights later, he was the overtime hero.

"It's a great feeling when you score and the bench gets cleared and everyone jumps," Brunner said. "It's awesome when you're scoring an OT winner in the playoffs."

Ducks: If Anaheim goes on to lose this series, the Ducks will look at their inability to close out Game 4 as the likely turning point. Instead of coming home with a chance to close out the Red Wings, they know they have at least one more visit to Joe Louis Arena on their itinerary.

"We missed a great opportunity," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "Even though they outshot us and they had a good territorial edge, we had some Grade A chances when you have to put the puck in the net. These are Grade A chances you have to score on, if you want to win.

"[The Wings] played very good, very hard, very desperate. I don't think quite frankly we had 20 players playing. We had some passengers."

Who's hot: Brunner has four points, including the overtime winner Monday night, in his first four Stanley Cup Playoff games, ,,, Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf has four points in the first four games of the series. Goaltender Jonas Hiller has a 2.10 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

Injury report: Detroit is without defenseman Danny DeKeyser (broken right thumb) and forwards Drew Miller (broken hand) and Darren Helm (back). None is expected to return before next season. Forward Justin Abdelkader will sit out the second half of a two-game suspension he received for an illegal hit in Game 2. … Anaheim defenseman Toni Lydman, who suffered head injuries when he was hit by Abdelkader, didn't play Game 4 and there's no word when he'll return.
