Stars conclude homestand against Ducks
Anaheim Ducks vs. Dallas Stars

DUCKS (23-7-5) at STARS (16-15-3)

TV: FS-W, FS-SW

Last 10: Anaheim 4-4-2; Dallas 4-5-1.

Season series: This is the third of five meetings. The Stars are 1-0-1 against the Ducks this season.

Big story: These two points are big for both teams, albeit for different reasons. Anaheim is all but assured a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but is just four points behind the Chicago Blackhawks for the Western Conference lead. Dallas, meanwhile, enters Monday’s action just points behind the eighth-place Columbus Blue Jackets.

Team scope:

Ducks: Anaheim became the latest team to experience first-hand just how tremendous Sergei Bobrovsky has been this season. The Blue Jackets’ goaltender stopped 29 of 30 shots and Mark Letestu beat Jonas Hiller with a minute remaining in overtime in a 2-1 loss at Nationwide Arena on Sunday.

"You obviously don't like the result," Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said. "I'm just frustrated. We play well and we keep pushing and pushing and we're missing opportunities. I mean, they're right in front of the net. There's rebounds or we're not going to the net or we're doing some things that just are not Duck-like, for want of a better phrase."

Stars: Dallas appeared to be in solid position to earn at least one point in the standings as it entered the third period of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings with a 1-1 tie. But Brad Richardson and Justin Williams each beat Kari Lehtonen in the final 20 minutes as the Stars suffered a 3-2 loss at the American Airlines Center.

With the loss, the Stars fell to .500 at home (8-8-2). Dallas concludes a season-long five-game homestand on Monday. The Stars are 2-2-0 thus far.

"We need to amp up a level," coach Glen Gulutzan said. "We're fighting for our lives here. After an embarrassing outing in front of our home fans like that, we better come out hard tomorrow. We will come out hard tomorrow if we have any (guts)."

Who’s hot: Ducks rookie Emerson Etem notched Anaheim’s lone tally Sunday. He now has two goals in the past four games. … Stars winger Ray Whitney has scored in back-to-back games and three goals and two assists in the past five.

Injury report: Nick Bonino is day-to-day for the Ducks with a lower-body injury. … Dallas center Vernon Fiddler left Friday's game with a charley horse and did not play Sunday. He is listed as day-to-day. Forward Ryan Garbutt is out with a hand injury.
