Kings continue road trip against Stars
Los Angeles Kings vs. Dallas Stars

KINGS (19-12-3) at STARS (16-14-3)

TV: FS-West; FS-Southwest

Last 10: Los Angeles 5-4-1; Dallas 4-5-1

Season series: The Kings are making their first of two trips to Dallas in a 10-day span. The teams have met twice already in Los Angeles, with the Stars winning 5-2 and 2-0.

Big story: The Kings wrap up a tough four-game week on the road with a stop at American Airlines Center; they're 2-0-1 after a 4-3 shootout loss at Minnesota on Saturday and have a stop in Phoenix on Tuesday before they had home. The Stars, one of a half-dozen teams in a scramble for the last playoff spot in the West, had Saturday off after beating the Wild 5-3 in Dallas on Friday.

Team Scope:

Kings: Los Angeles let a point get away Saturday night in St. Paul. The Kings led 3-1 and appeared to have the game under control, but the Wild rallied to tie the game in the third period and went 3-for-3 against Jonathan Quick in the shootout.

"We weren't sharp," center Anze Kopitar told the team's website. "That wasn't obviously our plan. To give up a two-goal lead, it's not our style. We've got to get focused again for tomorrow. It's another game, and we've got to get ready for it."

Stars: Dallas' two most recent games were at home against Minnesota, but the outcomes couldn't have been less similar. The Stars fell apart in the third period of Monday's 7-4 loss, but turned a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes into a 5-3 victory with three unanswered goals in the third period of the return match.

"There was energy even in the room today," Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said. "Getting the points was big. I thought we played strong against a good team that has played a lot of games. That gives you a little bit of confidence moving forward. Now, we've got another tough opponent. We seem to play better in the more pressure we get under and the tougher the opponent. That game gave us an injection of energy and a little boost of confidence."

Who's hot: Kopitar has points in all three games on this trip. Justin Williams has goals in the past two. … Dallas' Jaromir Jagr has four goals and four assists during his five-game points streak. His assist on Friday night was the 1,000th of his career. Jamie Benn has a goal and five assists during a four-game points streak.

Injury report: Los Angeles is without defensemen Willie Mitchell (knee) and Matt Greene (back). … Dallas center Vernon Fiddler left Friday's game with a charley horse and is day to day. Forward Ryan Garbutt is out with a hand injury.
