Blackhawks aim to rebound against Flames
Calgary Flames vs. Chicago Blackhawks

FLAMES (12-14-4) at BLACKHAWKS (24-4-3)

TV: SNET-W, CSN-CH

Last 10: Calgary 4-6-0; Chicago 6-4-0

Season series: This will be the second of three meetings, with Chicago holding a 1-0 edge after a thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 shootout win on Feb. 2 at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary will also make a trip to the Windy City on April 26 to conclude the season series.

Big story: Odds are the Flames still have that shootout loss to the Blackhawks fresh in their minds, simply because of how it happened.

After Jay Bouwmeester put Calgary up 2-1 with just 35 seconds left in regulation, Johnny Oduya fed a perfect pass to Marian Hossa in the slot and the Blackhawks’ star right winger tied it up with just 2.7 seconds left on the clock. Patrick Kane’s goal decided the shootout and rewarded Chicago goalie Ray Emery for a memorable 45-save outing.

Team scope:

Flames: Jarome Iginla’s ninth goal of the season, scored midway through the third period, was the game-winner in a 3-2 home victory on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues. The win broke a three-game losing skid for the Flames, who are 14th in the Western Conference. Iginla is now popping up in trade speculation as the League’s April 3 trade deadline looms, but he’s not ready to join the fray.

“We’ve made it this far in the year and I know there’s lots of speculation about our team and me individually,” Iginla said on Sunday. “Right now, [after] a very important win for our team, that

will work itself out. [This was] a huge win for our team. It’s beyond desperation time.”

Blackhawks: It took 32 games of the shortened 48-game schedule, but Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville finally has a reason to be upset with his team. After losing a late 2-1 lead in Anaheim to drop the final game of an otherwise perfect road trip last week, Chicago

coughed up another one-goal lead in the third period on Monday night and lost 5-4 to the Los Angeles Kings at United Center.

“We had the lead in the third period again,” Quenneville said. “That’s two tough games in a row we don’t get a point when we’ve got the lead in the third period. One late, one semi-late. We had three faceoff goals and they got one at a crucial time to win it.”

Who’s hot: Toews has scored five goals in the last four games, scoring at least one in four straight, while Michael Frolik potted a pair on Monday night filling in for Hossa.

Injury report: Calgary’s Lance Bouma (knee) and Paul Byron (fractured wrist) are both out indefinitely … Hossa, who’s unlikely to play against the Flames, is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and did not dress for Chicago’s game on Monday against Los Angeles. Patrick

Sharp is on the injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
