High-scoring Penguins face improved Maple Leafs
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

PENGUINS (16-8-0) at MAPLE LEAFS (15-10-0)

TV: ROOT-PIT, CBC, NHLN-US

Last 10: Pittsburgh 7-3-0; Toronto 6-4-0

Season series: The Penguins are looking to even the score with the Maple Leafs. Facing off for the second of three meetings, Toronto holds the advantage after a 5-2 victory in Pittsburgh on Jan. 23.

Big story: Pittsburgh forward Chris Kunitz and Toronto forward Nazem Kadri are each riding a seven-game point streak. Kunitz has 12 points (eight goals, four assists) and Kadri has 11 (six goals, five assists).

Team Scope:

Penguins: Pittsburgh is second in the Eastern Conference after a win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. After falling behind 4-1, the Penguins scored four unanswered goals to win 5-4.

The Penguins have no trouble lighting the lamp, leading the NHL in goals, but will be going up against a capable goaltender, either Ben Scrivens or James Reimer. The Penguins will need Kunitz to continue his success.

"The puck seems to be going in the net. Hopefully, it keeps going," Kunitz said.

Maple Leafs: After spending the past eight seasons out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Toronto is in contention, fifth in the Eastern Conference.

Kadri, who leads the team with 25 points, is starting to live up to expectations after being taken seventh in the 2009 NHL Draft.

Along with an offensive presence, the Maple Leafs are a physical team. They lead the NHL with 773 hits and 27 major penalties.

"We've got a system we want to play," captain Dion Phaneuf said. "We want to be tough to play against, and that's part of it."

Who's hot: Penguins forward Sidney Crosby leads the League in scoring with 39 points, 14 in his past six games.

Injury report: The Penguins report no injuries. … Maple Leafs forwards Matt Frattin (knee) and Joffrey Lupul (forearm) are out.
