Flames hope to end skid against Canucks
Vancouver Canucks vs. Calgary Flames

CANUCKS (11-5-4) at FLAMES (7-8-4)

TV: SNET-P, SNET-W

Last 10: Vancouver 5-3-2; Calgary 4-4-2

Season series: It's the third of five meetings. The Canucks are 2-0-0 against the Flames this season, with the latest victory coming on Feb. 9 in a 5-1 decision at Rogers Arena.

Big story: With Cory Schneider between the pipes, the Canucks put an end to the Los Angeles Kings’ five-game winning streak Saturday night. But with the quick turnaround and Schneider having received the past two starts, expect Roberto Luongo to get the nod for Vancouver against its bitter Northwest Division rivals.

Team Scope:

Canucks: Dan Hamhuis, Mason Raymond and Jannik Hansen each had a goal and an assist, while Henrik Sedin and Alexandre Burrows had two assists apiece as Vancouver put an end to the Kings’ winning ways. More importantly, the Canucks prevented what could have been a three-game losing streak.

"That was our best game in a long time,” Henrik Sedin said. "It felt good. We got the puck down low. We were matched up against Kopitar, which is an offensive line also, so it makes it a little bit easier to generate chances."

Flames: Calgary will be looking to prevent a three-game skid of its own heading into Sunday’s action. The Flames lost their second straight Thursday night when they suffered a 5-4 defeat against the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center.

Calgary raced out to a 3-0 lead against the Avs before the wheels fell off.

"We know we are supposed to play the same way, but we don't play the same way when we are up, and that one is as hard as any loss this year," Flames captain Jarome Iginla said. "There is no way that should happen. There is no excuses. It's terrible. It stinks. There is no way we shouldn't win this game."

Who's hot: Henrik Sedin has two goals and four assists over the past five matches. … Iginla scored twice Thursday night and has four goals in his past three games, while Mike Cammalleri has two tallies in that same span.

Injury report: Vancouver center Ryan Kesler is out with a fractured foot. … The Flames are expected to be without forwards Akim Aliu (knee) and Mikael Backlund (knee).
