Senators hope to remain hot as they visit Flyers
Ottawa Senators vs. Philadelphia Flyers

SENATORS (12-6-3) at FLYERS (10-11-1)

TV: NHLN-US, SNET-E, TVA, CSN-PH

Last 10: Ottawa 6-3-1; Philadelphia 5-5-0

Season series: This is the first of three games between the teams this season. The teams split four games last season.

Big story: Can the Senators continue their remarkable run? They're 5-1-1 since their best player, defenseman Erik Karlsson, was lost for the season with an Achilles' tendon tear.

Team Scope:

Senators: While the Senators certainly miss goalie Craig Anderson, they've won two of the three games he's sat out with an ankle injury. Ben Bishop has won twice, allowing just three goals, and Robin Lehner made 44 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

However, the Senators could have a nice problem as Anderson continues to recover. He skated Friday and reported good progress in his recovery.

"Every day seems to be getting a lot better," Anderson told the team's website. "I can skate, I can stop, I can push, I can do a lot of things that a forward can do. I haven't taken the step yet to see what a goalie can do. I think that's going to be the next step -- see how it is [Saturday] and see if I can get into the butterfly at all."

Flyers: After a hectic February that saw them play 15 games in 27 days, the Flyers enter March knowing they'll have a few chances to catch their breath this month.

The Flyers have played 22 games already this season, tied with the Toronto Maple Leafs for the most in the League. While that number will advance more slowly in March -- they play 13 games spread over 30 days -- it gave teams they're fighting for playoff spots with games in hand.

"We had some things [in February] that we were dealing with that we didn't do a good job of overcoming or we needed to do better and we didn't," coach Peter Laviolette said. "The month of March now presents itself with [13] games in 30 days. I think it's seven at home and five on the road. This is an opportunity for us to have a good month, a big month."

Who's hot: Flyers captain Claude Giroux has four goals and eight assists in his six-game point-scoring streak.

Injury report: Karlsson and Anderson are among the prominent names on a long injury list for the Senators. Forwards Jason Spezza (back), Guillaume Latendresse (whiplash), Peter Regin (upper body) and Milan Michalek (knee) are out, and defenseman Mike Lundin (flue) is questionable. … Out for the Flyers are forwards Tye McGinn (broken orbital), Jody Shelley (hip) and Matt Read (torn rib-cage muscles), and defenseman Andrej Meszaros (shoulder).
