Kings aim for fifth straight win at Phoenix
Los Angeles Kings vs. Phoenix Coyotes
KINGS (22-12-1) at COYOTES (16-12-7)

TV: KCOP-13, Fox Sports-Arizona.

Last 10: Los Angeles 7-2-1; Phoenix 4-5-1.

Season Series: This is the second of six meetings between the Pacific Division rivals. Phoenix earned a 4-2 victory against Los Angeles on Oct. 21 at Jobing.com Arena.

Big Story: The Kings are clearly headed back in the right direction, evidenced by their four-game winning streak that they're bringing to the desert on Wednesday night. Los Angeles showed it's indeed back in business on Monday night, when the Kings blanked the San Jose Sharks in a 4-0 waxing at HP Pavilion.

"I can't really say enough about the way the team played,'' said Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, who made 24 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. "San Jose is one of the top teams in the League, and really we brought our 'A' game. We played well, and we didn't give them much defensively and we scored some big goals."

Team Scope:

Kings: They found themselves in a scoreless tie after 40 minutes, but the Kings erupted for four goals in the third period against the Sharks, led by captain Dustin Brown's pair. Not only did L.A. end San Jose's four-game winning streak, but it moved within a point of first-place Dallas in the Pacific Division.

"It goes a long way when you have four lines playing really well," Brown said. "The last stretch of games here, we've been playing really good, from  our first line to our fourth line and from our first defenseman to our sixth. And obviously we're getting the same goaltending every night, with Quickie and Bernie [Jonathan Bernier].''

Coyotes: Ilya Bryzgalov returned from a five-game absence, but allowed three goals on the first seven shots he faced and Phoenix was limited to one goal for the fourth straight game in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at Jobing.com Arena.

"You give them three goals to start a game and it's not rocket science -- after that it's going to be a tough one," Coyotes captain Shane Doan said. "We've only scored one goal in each of the last (four) games, that's not going to win you games. That's not going to give you a chance."

Who's Hot: Kings forward Anze Kopitar had three assists Monday for his fifth multi-point game in his last nine contests. He has five goals and nine assists in his last 10 games and leads the Kings with 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists). Brown has 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) in his last 10 games.

Injury Report: Alexei Ponikarovsky (lower body) is day-to-day for the Kings, while Scott Parse (hip) and Willie Mitchell (lower body) are out. … Coyotes forward Radim Vrbata is questionable with a lower-body injury, while Taylor Pyatt (upper body) is out.

Stat Pack: The Kings have played 35 games this season, but only seven of them have been against division opponents. … Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski played in his 1,000th career game on Sunday. He was the first overall pick (Florida) at the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Puck Drop:  "We had a lot of great chances in the first and second, but nothing was going in. We stuck with it, and that's always a good thing. Sometimes that can go the other way, where you get a lot of chances and they end up scoring, but Quickie was great, and obviously we got that first one in and kind of went from there." -- Kings forward Brad Richardson after Monday's 4-0 win at San Jose
