Coyotes hope to bounce back in New York
Phoenix Coyotes vs. New York Rangers
COYOTES (14-9-6) at RANGERS (19-13-1)

TV: Fox Sports-Arizona; MSG.

Last 10: Phoenix 5-4-1; New York 7-3-0.

Season Series: This is the lone meeting between the teams. They last faced each other on Jan. 30, when Phoenix earned a 3-2 victory at Jobing.com Arena.

Big Story: The Rangers gritted out a 4-1 victory at Pittsburgh on Wednesday night, but they may have potentially lost forward Ryan Callahan for up to six weeks in the process. Callahan was injured midway through the first period when he broke his left hand blocking a shot by Pens defenseman Kris Letang.

"I'm not going to sit here and pretend. That's a big loss to us in Callahan," Rangers coach John Tortorella said of his second-leading scorer, who will be evaluated Thursday in New York. "I felt it right away as a coach on the bench as far as the situations that we use him in.

"We'll do it the right away. They've handled these situations and they had experience and we'll get through this."

Team Scope:

Coyotes: Phoenix will be looking to bounce back from a ho-hum performance on Wednesday night, when it suffered a 3-0 loss across the Hudson River in New Jersey. The Coyotes managed 29 shots, but each of them was turned aside by Martin Brodeur, who recorded his 113th career shutout.

"We're a team that if we don't play all out, all the time, we're not going to be successful," Phoenix coach Dave Tippett said. "Tonight was a perfect example. We had far too many guys that were taking the easy way out instead of the hard way in. And when we do that it's going to be hard to win games."

Rangers: New York put forth one of its finer performances of the season Wednesday night, when it scored four times in the third period -- all without Callahan's services -- to beat the Penguins at the CONSOL Energy Center. Erik Christensen and Alex Frolov scored just 15 seconds apart against Brent Johnson before Artem Anisimov added another goal late to put the game away.

"It's a great win in a lot of ways," said goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who made 27 saves. "I think we won because we stuck to the system. We didn't start taking chances. We believed we could come back in this game, and once we got the first one, we kept going. It was a great team effort."

Who's Hot: Rangers forward Brian Boyle scored his 12th goal Wednesday night. He had never scored more than 4 prior to this season.

Injury Report:  Besides Callahan, the Rangers will also be without Vinny Prospal (knee). Derek Boogaard (shoulder) is day-to-day. … Phoenix is boasting a healthy lineup.

Stat Pack: Coyotes captain Shane Doan notched the 35th two-goal game of his career last Saturday against Dallas. … Frolov, who hadn't scored in 11 games, registered the game-winning goal and an assist in the Rangers' four-goal third period Wednesday night.

Puck Drop: "It's a little disappointing when you have a team that's struggling like that, and we let them come out and take control. They were a desperate team and we gave them life by allowing the two early goals. They were able to feed off that." -- Coyotes captain Shane Doan after Wednesday's 3-0 loss at New Jersey
