Ducks hope to rebound in Minnesota
Anaheim Ducks vs. Minnesota Wild
DUCKS (10-8-2) at WILD (8-6-2)

TV: Fox Sports-West, Fox Sports-North, Fox Sports-Wisconsin.

Last 10: Anaheim 6-3-1; Minnesota 5-4-1.

Season Series: This is the first of four meetings between the teams. Anaheim went 2-0-2 against Minnesota in 2009-10.

Big Story: The Wild return home for a game after completing four-game road trip that saw them go 2-2. Minnesota completed the trip in winning fashion as it earned an impressive 4-1 victory at Tampa Bay on Sunday. Niklas Backstrom made 37 saves in the win, which featured three first-period goals by the Wild.

"It's easier when you get a good start," Backstrom said. "You can play your own game. You don't have to take too many chances."

Team Scope:

Ducks: Anaheim will try to avoid a three-game losing streak as it suffered a frustrating 2-1 loss to the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday night. Brad Richards won it for Dallas 8:24 into the third period on a goal that had to be reviewed. Corey Perry scored the lone goal for the Ducks, who remain in second place in the Pacific Division, just two points behind Los Angeles.

"We had our fair share of chances," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "It wasn't like we were devoid of chances, we came up empty. Even more-so, we had lots of good chances on our power play, too. ... We're just not really sharp offensively. We got to think 'shoot more,' be a little more selfish."

Wild: It was kind of a unique three-goal victory by Minnesota on Sunday, considering the Wild were outshot 16-6 in the opening period and 38-18 overall. But power-play goals by Cal Clutterbuck and Antti Miettinen in the first period, combined with Backstrom's stellar performance, allowed the Wild to skate away with the two points.

"We had 34 shots in Atlanta (last Thursday) and we got one goal, so tonight we capitalized on our chances," said center John Madden, who also scored against the Lightning. "As long as we get two points, I'm not really concerned about how many shots be get. I'll take quality over quantity any day."

Who's Hot: Perry has 6 goals and 7 assists in his last 11 games for the Ducks. Rookie blueliner Cam Fowler, who received more than 21 minutes of ice time Tuesday night, has three assists in his last three games. … Clutterbuck's goal on Sunday was his team-leading sixth of the season.

Injury Report: Ducks forward Joffrey Lupul (blood infection) and defenseman Andy Sutton (broken thumb) are out. … Wild forwards James Sheppard (knee), Pierre-Marc Bouchard (post-concussion syndrome) are out, while Chuck Kobasew (groin) is day-to-day and Guillaume Latendresse (groin) is week-to-week. Goalie Josh Harding (ACL/MCL) is likely out for the season.

Stat Pack: Wild forward Martin Havlat had three assists on Sunday, giving him 13 assists and 22 points in 18 games against Tampa Bay.

Puck Drop: "That's why you try different things. They've had success. It was success in one game. Hopefully they can carry that over into (Wednesday's) game, and then the weekend. Only time will tell there. I think they're all excited. Moving forward it gives Marty confidence, but it definitely gives the other two guys some confidence that you're playing with a guy that can set you up." -- Wild coach Todd Richards on skating Martin Havlat with John Madden and Eric Nystrom
