Blues shoot for fourth straight, face Thrashers
Atlanta Thrashers vs. St. Louis Blues
THRASHERS (5-4-1) at BLUES (5-1-2)

TV: FS-MW (HD)

Season series --
This will be the first of two meetings -- the rematch is slated for Dec. 21 in Atlanta. The Thrashers came away with a pair of victories in 2009-10, scoring a 4-2 victory at Scottrade Center in St. Louis and a 3-2 shootout decision in Philips Arena.

Big story -- St. Louis goalie Jaroslav Halak notched his second-straight shutout on Thursday, 3-0, over the Nashville Predators. Halak has not allowed a goal in 151 minutes, 10 seconds, dating back seven periods to a 4-2 win over Chicago. Former Blues goalie Manny Legace holds the franchise record for the longest shutout streak by a goaltender at 186 minutes, 15 seconds. For the season, Halak is 5-1-1 with a 1.55 goals-against average and .939 save percentage.

"I don't really think about (the streak)," Halak told Fox Sports Midwest after Thursday's game. "I just come to help the guys win the game. It doesn't matter if you win 6-5 or 3-0. Obviously, it's more special when you get a shutout, but a win is a win."

Team Scope:

Thrashers --
Goalie Ondrej Pavelec was recalled from the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Chicago on Friday and is expected to start against the Blues. Pavelec made one rehab appearance in Chicago, stopping 19 of 22 shots in a 4-1 loss to Oklahoma City. He backed up Chris Mason on Friday. Pavelec hasn't played in an NHL game since fainting minutes into the Thrashers' Oct. 8 opener against the Washington Capitals. He fell backward and was concussed after his head struck the ice.

The 6-3, 220-pound Pavelec has a 20-28-7 record, with two shutouts, a 3.32 GAA and .902 save percentage in 62 career games with the Thrashers.

Blues -- The Blues are riding a three-game winning streak after knocking off the Predators on Thursday in the Music City. Halak made 24 saves, while Alex Steen, Patrik Berglund and Matt D'Agostini scored for the Blues. The Predators dropped their first regulation game of the season.

Who's hot -- Blues center T.J. Oshie, who leads the team in assists (8) and points (9), owns a seven-game point-scoring streak.

Injury report --
St. Louis defenseman Roman Polak (lacerated right wrist) is out, while defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo (upper body) and forward Cam Janssen (concussion, sternum contusion) are questionable. … The Thrashers are without defenseman Freddy Meyer (mid-body injury) and forward Patrice Cormier (broken foot).

Stat pack -- Atlanta's Evander Kane scored his team-leading sixth goal in a 6-4 win over the Rangers on Wednesday, doubling his total through the first nine games of last season. Kane also leads the team with 37 shots and ranks third on the Thrashers with 18 hits.

Puck drop -- The offseason acquisition of Dustin Byfuglien in a trade with Chicago is paying off for Atlanta. On Friday night, Byfuglien split two defenders and beat Ryan Miller with a wrist shot at 4:31 of overtime in a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Byfuglien, who had a goal and an assist in the game, has notched at least one point in six of Atlanta's last seven games (4 goals, 5 assists), including three game-winners.
