Red Wings face Ducks in rematch of wild game
Anaheim Ducks vs. Detroit Red Wings
DUCKS (11-13-6) at RED WINGS (14-11-5)

Last 10: Anaheim 4-3-3; Detroit 4-5-1

Season series:
This is the second of four meetings between the teams this season. Detroit won the first meeting, Nov. 14 at Joe Louis Arena, 7-4. The Wings led 2-1 going into a wild third period that saw the teams combine for eight goals, including three by Henrik Zetterberg. He also had 2 assists for a 5-point game. Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and 3 assists for the Ducks.

Big Story:
Can the Red Wings find any traction this season? It seems like every time they take a step forward, they follow with two steps back.

Can the Ducks rally? They snapped a five-game losing streak by rallying from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Stars in overtime, 4-3, on Tuesday. Still, they're 15th in the Western Conference and seven points out of a playoff spot.

Team Scope:

Ducks -- Could a rookie be the spark that rights the Ducks' ship? Dan Sexton certainly had a star performance Tuesday night. The rookie forward, called up when Teemu Selanne went on IR, scored two third-period goals Tuesday to force overtime against the Stars. Saku Koivu scored in overtime, but all the post-game attention went to Sexton.

"Take my coolest previous feeling and multiple it by 10, if not more," the 22-year-old Sexton said. "That is what it was."

Red Wings --
Already decimated by injuries, Detroit lost another player in Wednesday's loss to St. Louis. According to coach Mike Babcock, forward Dan Cleary suffered a separated shoulder and will miss about a month. The injury occurred when the Blues' Barrett Jackman hit Cleary in the neutral zone. Cleary is tied for third on the team in scoring with 16 points, and he has 7 goals in 30 games.

Who's Hot --
Corey Perry's 19-game point streak might be over, but the Ducks forward hasn't stopped scoring -- he has a goal and 3 points in four games since his streak ended. Teammate Ryan Getzlaf has 8 assists and 11 points in his last 10 games.

Zetterberg, who leads the team in scoring with 30 points in 30 games, has 6 points in his last six games.

Injury Report --
Cleary's four-week absence makes him the sixth key member of the Red Wings to be lost for at least another month. He joins defensemen Andreas Lilja (concussion) and Niklas Kronwall (sprained knee), plus forwards Johan Franzen (knee), Valtteri Filppula (wrist) and Jason Williams (leg).

The Ducks will continue to be without Selanne for 4-6 weeks following surgery to repair a broken hand.

Stat Pack --
Detroit's shutout loss to St. Louis on Wednesday marked the third time in 30 games they've been blanked this season. Last season, the Wings were shut out three times in 82 games.

Puck Drop --
This could be make-or-break time for the Ducks. Their visit to Detroit is the first game of a four-game road trip, and starts a stretch of seven of eight away from Honda Center. The Ducks are just 2-5-4 on the road, but they need to improve that record in a hurry if they have any hope of making the playoffs.
