Flames-Blue Jackets Preview
Calgary Flames vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

GAME: Calgary Flames (39-22-8) at Columbus Blue Jackets (26-40-3).

TIME: Friday, 7 p.m. EST.

Coming off their best offensive performance of the season, the Calgary Flames try to win consecutive road games for the first time in two months when they visit the slumping Columbus Blue Jackets.

Calgary is 4-5-2 in its last 11 road games, and has not won two in a row away from home since victories over Minnesota on Jan. 14 and at Edmonton on Jan. 23. The Flames are 2-2-1 on their season-high seven-game road trip.

The Flames have recorded at least one point in their last five meetings with the Blue Jackets, and have won in three of their last four trips to Columbus.

Six different Calgary players found the back of the net in Thursday's 7-2 win over the St. Louis Blues, the Flames' highest goal total of the season.

"I scored on some lucky shots tonight, that's all I can say," said Roman Hamrlik, who scored twice for his first multi-goal game of the season. "I just aim at the net and they went through. We are happy to get the two points. That's all that matters."

Those points are crucial. The Flames have a mediocre 6-5-1 record since the Olympic break, and hold a slim three-point lead over Colorado in the Northwest Division.

Chuck Kobasew and Robyn Regehr each had a goal and an assist Thursday, while defenseman Jordan Leopold scored his first goal of the season and added two assists.

"I don't know that it's nice but I'd say it's about time," said Darryl Sutter, who earned his 100th win as Flames coach. "For as much as time as he gets on power plays and playing with defenseman Robyn Regehr, you'd think at this point he'd have one somehow."

Calgary converted 3 of 6 power-play opportunities Thursday, but have been shut out with the man advantage in their last six games against Columbus, going 0-for-32.

The Blue Jackets have lost five straight games after Tuesday's 5-2 defeat to the Phoenix Coyotes, which drew boos from the Columbus home crowd.

"They (the fans) are disappointed," Blue Jackets coach Gerard Gallant said. "I am disappointed and our players are disappointed."

Adam Foote and Sergei Fedorov scored to give the Blue Jackets an early 2-0 lead, but they gave up five unanswered goals the rest of the way. The outcome was similar to Sunday's collapse against Anaheim, when Columbus led 3-1 before allowing three straight Mighty Ducks scores.

The Blue Jackets have capitalized on just 4 of 28 power-play opportunities in their current skid.
