GAME: Washington Capitals (22-43-9-2) at Atlanta Thrashers (30-34-8-4).

TIME: Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. EST.

Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Andy Sutton stole a point from the Washington Capitals in their last meeting.

Sutton will try for another solid effort when the Thrashers and Capitals meet at Philips Arena.

Sutton scored two power-play goals in Atlanta's 2-2 tie with Washington on Saturday.

By scoring with 35.2 seconds left in regulation, Sutton extended his point streak to a season-high five games. He has six goals and one assist over that span.

"I am just trying to keep things simple on the power play and get shots through," said Sutton, who has scored a goal in a career-high three straight games. "There isn't a lot of magic to it. When things are going well for you, you seem to find a way to see the little bit of twine showing."

The Capitals lost 3-0 to the New York Islanders on Tuesday, losing for the ninth time in their last 12 (2-9-1).

"Our last seven goals have been power-play goals," said Washington coach Glen Hanlon, whose team went 0-for-4 with the man advantage. "We have to score on the power play. Five-on-five, we didn't generate any offense."

Washington is two points ahead of league-worst Pittsburgh and one point ahead of Columbus, which is in last place in the Western Conference.

The Thrashers are 12 points behind the Islanders for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and have just six games remaining. The Islanders also have six games left.
