The Blues are a season-high 13 games above .500, but are three points behind the first-place Detroit Red Wings in the Central Division.
On Tuesday, Keith Tkachuk scored with 42.7 seconds left in overtime, giving the Blues a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The win gave the Blues their longest winning streak since a nine-game run from Oct. 17-Nov. 5, 2002.
The Blues are 6-0-1 in December, with three of the victories coming in overtime.
"I think that's just the way the games are playing out," defenseman Chris Pronger said. "They're extremely close and we just seem to find a way to win right now. As long as we continue to do that, I think everybody will be happy."
The Blues won their fifth straight despite playing without center Doug Weight, who sat out with a groin injury. Weight, who has eight goals and 17 assists, is expected to play against the Sharks.
The Sharks have just two wins in seven games (2-2-2-1) following a five-game winning streak, and are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Red Wings on Wednesday.
