Galiardi's power-play goal with 4:51 left in regulation tied the game. Sven Baertschi had his second assist. Reto Berra made 14 saves, and stopped Hall and Linus Omark in the shootout.
Baertschi and Roman Horak scored in the shootout against Olivier Roy.
Ryan Smyth, Kyle Platzer, Marc Arcobello and Jesse Joensuu each had a goal for Edmonton; 13 Oilers had at least one point. Starting goalie Devan Dubnyk made 12 saves on 13 shots in his 28 minutes, before Roy allowed four goals on 22 shots.
