GLENDALE, ARIZONA ---The National Hockey League announced today that Arizona Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith has been selected to represent the Coyotes at the 2017 NHL All-Star Game, which takes place at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, January 29.
This season, the 6-foot-5, 218-pound Smith has recorded a 2.83 goals against average (GAA) and a .918 save percentage (SV), which is tied for the fifth best mark among Western Conference goaltenders that have skated in 24 games. Smith's .926 SV% since March 12, 2016 is the sixth best among all NHL goalies that have skated in 20 games. The Kingston, Ontario native made a franchise record 58 saves on 60 shot attempts on Dec. 3 versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 34-year-old Smith has currently played in the third-most games by a goalie in franchise history (281 games) and has the third-highest total of shutouts (19). Smith's 116 wins also rank third on the all-time franchise list. The 11-year veteran has an all-time record of 183-183-56 in 443 career NHL games with a 2.66 GAA, .913 SV% and 30 career shutouts with the Coyotes, Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Smith has previously won gold medals with Team Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2015 IIHF World Championships, where he posted a 1.50 GAA with a .930 SV% in eight games.
This will be Smith's first career appearance at an NHL All-Star Game. He will be the 43rd All-Star in franchise history.
